Gainesville, Florida. The Florida Gators received an unwelcome surprise out of the defensive line last week. Gator defensive end Carlos Dunlap, 20, was arrested for DUI. Dunlap fell asleep at the wheel in the middle of the road with the car in gear. Police quickly gained access to Dunlap’s vehicle and put the car in park.
After officers woke up Dunlap they detected an odor of alcohol from his breath. The star athlete allegedly performed poorly during the field sobriety tests which resulted in his arrest. Police requested to submit to the breath test, but Dunlap refused. Too bad for Carlos because in most states refusing the breath test significantly increases your mandatory DUI penalties like it does in Washington State.
The potential first round NFL draft pick has utterly failed his Gator teammates. Coach Urban Meyer has suspended Dunlap from yesterday’s SEC Championship game against Alabama. A game the Florida Gators lost 32 to 13 in favor the the Crimson Tide of Alabama.
