King County Councilwoman Jane Hague Arrested for DUI

King County DUIKing County, Washington - June 2, 2007. Republican King County Councilwoman Jane Hague is facing re-election this year. Too bad her campaign team failed to inform her that being arrested for DUI during an election year is not a good move.

During her arrest police allegedly detected evidence consistent with consuming intoxicants. Worse yet for Hague, police state she was cursing and not cooperative during the investigation. Jane Hague’s DUI breath test samples were 0.135 and 0.141. Washington State’s legal limit for DUI is 0.08. Hague’s next court appearance is August 29th

Most would think this would be a windfall for Democrats. However, the Democratic candidate is Richard Pope. Pope has lost 11 previous elections for various positions. Pope also likes to switch his political allegiance. He ran as a Republican in 1996 and 2000. In 2003 he ran as a Republican for one race and as a Democrat for another race.

I believe public officials should set a good example. Being arrested for DUI does not accomplish that. However, I will not endorse Pope. Either do not vote at all for that race or someone please launch a successful write-in campaign.

    I completely agree with you. Neither of these people deserve our vote. Instead of not voting, please do a write-in vote of NONE. This will show both of these people that the voters in District 6 have no faith in either one of them.
