Washington State’s Felony DUI Law Snags Paul Yahne

Pierce County, Washington. Washington State recently enacted a felony DUI law. DUI defendants that have 5 DUIs within a 10 year period graduate from misdemeanor land to the world of felonies.
A guilty conviction of felony DUI will result in one year of prison time and a $10,000 fine. Misdemeanor DUI convictions require mandatory jail. However, that jail term is spent in city or county jails. Prison is quite different. Prison terms are served at facilities like Monroe and Walla Walla.
Paul Yahne already has 4 DUI convictions. Paul was arrested on August 21, 2007. Police indicate Paul smelled of alcohol. There was even evidence Paul disabled his Ignition Interlock Device. That will be an ugly fact for his legal defense team.
