Austin, Texas. This NFL off season has been a big party for Cedric Benson, but his recent adventures landed him on unemployment. The Chicago Bears released Benson today after his second brush with the law. On May 5th, Benson was arrested for boating under the influence and resisting arrest near Austin, Texas.
This past weekend Benson was arrested for DUI in Austin, Texas. Police observed Benson drive through a red light which Benson contends was yellow. During the traffic stop Benson allegedly failed the field sobriety tests and refused to provide a breath or blood test. However, Benson’s attorney claims Benson did want to provide a blood test and did pass the field sobriety tests. All of us are patiently awaiting the police to release the video of Benson’s arrest.
Even if Benson is innocent of these recent criminal allegations the Bears organization has had enough. General manager Jerry Angelo released this statement, “Cedric displayed a pattern of behavior we will not tolerate. As I said this past weekend, you have to protect your job. Everyone in this organization is held accountable for their actions.”
Wonder if the Cincinnati Bengals are looking for another thug? They love athletes that are constantly breaking the law. Maybe Benson will be wearing orange and black this coming football season.
