Barrow County, Georgia - December 18, 2007. Charles Oakley, former NBA player, was arrested for DUI on his birthday. Oakley was driving his 2008 Range Rover when a police officer noticed the vehicle weaving.
During the stop Oakley claimed he was lost and failed the field sobriety tests. However, he was only charged with DUI-Less Safe. That Georgia crime alleges Oakley’s blood alcohol level was below the legal limit of 0.08.
Something does not sound right with this one. Charles Oakley was an NBA power forward for many years. He was a bruiser, but he was graceful. He failed the field tests, but was under the limit? Doubtful. I am guessing the officer smell an odor of intoxicants and conducted the garbage field tests. Then was shocked when Oakley was under the limit, but since he made an arrest they had to charge Oakley with some crime.
